GuestbookRepeat visitors Wonderful time. We and our 6 year old son returned after staying last year in May. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is great. Plenty of other children for Eric to play with. While the resort was mostly full, it did not feel crowded or rushed. Lots of space on the beach or in the pool. Meals were good, service was friendly. Complaints? A/C was on the fritz for a few days but they provided extra fans for the room and it was never unpleasant. We wil be back next year! Nothing but praise (again)
Our second stay at this hotel within two years - and I had a policy of never returning to the same place! The location is idyllic with a large bay perfect for all levels of shore divers. There is an advised route around the bay but divert from the path and there they are - seahorses and frog fish; perfect for underwater photography. Boat dives are great too. The hotel scored highly for relaxation if you can pull yourself away from the daily activities, the golf, the fitness room, the tennis and of course, diving. The staff were very friendly and certainly remembered us from last year. We just loved the Thursday night barbeque next to the sea with Groupo Ekis - such a talented trio of gentlemen. Watch the sun set across the sea with great cuisine and music - a great way to relax and enjoy yourself. I really don't think we'll tire of visiting here. Quite a Good Value
Our 7 night stay at this rather isolated resort passed without a single dissapointment of any consequence. The many favorable reviews in Tripadvisor held true. Management and staff were consistently attentive, reliable and sincere in their efforts to make guests comfortable. The wait and bar staff at each and every site were consistently on the mark. Every staff member I encountered from front desk to drivers to grounds keepers impressed us as genuinly pleased to have us as guests. You will be sad to leave these kind and accomodating folks at your stays end. Meals were served on time and when buffet style, kept temperate and well stocked. The dining areas were delightful with wonderful views. Bountiful breakfasts were served well in advance of dive boat departures so mornings were leisurely and relaxed. All rooms in the building immediatley off the front desk provide magnificent views of the lagoon and well kept beach. It appears those in the next building would as well. The King bed in #117 was very comfortable and hot water in the shower (no tub) was instantaneous. Rooms in each of these have a terrace ideal for viewing sunsets or catching evening breezes with a drink from the nearby pool bar. We opted for the all inclusive package and were well pleased with the meals AND bar service which provided drinks to order with good quality and call liqours of all sorts, not the "well" rum and tequila routine. We took only one excursion, a trip to Wiiiamsted for a little shopping, sightseeing , and a brief but productive go at the slots. Had a great time. Through the week we overheard remarks about other trips and all were favorable. In the interest of brevity I will limit my remarks about the dive operation "Sunset Divers" to these. VERY well run, organized, responsive and convenient. Boat Captains and divemasters are competent and professional, working with divers to select best sites in accordance with divers wishes and conditions. My wife who no longer dives enjoyed leisurely mornings around this low key resort till the A.M. boats returned usually between 12:30 -1:00 PM. This is not a Disneyesque resort and those who require brash stimulation round the clock will be dissapointed. Those content with a good book, a loaded i-pod, sunny skies, pleasent breezes and scenery will not. We really hated to leave this "paradise found" and hope to return soon with our adult children. Had a very good holiday at Sunset Waters. This is a three star hotel with a very pleasant beach, good pool and friendly staff. Rooms were comfortable and clean if in need of a little refurbishment. Food at the weekends was buffet style and was very nice. the plated meals during the week were not quite as nice but sustaining. The all inclusive package was good value - and the cocktails were excellent. The dive operation was excellent and efficient. My husband enjoyed himself - particularly as there were other dedicated divers around. The only drawback was the lack of diversity of the dive sites - they do not compare with the Indian Ocean! I don't dive but had an excellent time snorkelling around the artificial reef which forms the swimming lagoon. Lots to see and easy access to the water. Swimming in the lagoon is best with reef shoes - lots of rocks and broken coral can be painful to stand on. You had to pick your way out carefully if not wearing shoes there were plenty of sunloungers with substantial foam matresses - these could be used to float about the lagoon too - and were great fun!!!! A New Favorite on our Favorite Island We just came back from a 8 night stay at Sunset waters resort. It is our 10th visit to the island and first time staying at this resort. The experience was fabulous. Staff goes out of their way to be helpful with a smile. Jim, the resident manager, greeted us personally and checked in with us daily. Our youngest (3 years old) looked for "Mr. Jim" every night at dinner to tell him about her day, and he was always gracious and friendly - something we really appreciated. Airport transfers were smooth and efficient. Front desk staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating. The food, diving, and beach were all exceptional. The restaurant staff were efficient and expedient - also appreciated since we were always dining with almost 3 and 5 year olds. Food was varied and consistently great quality. Buffets in the beach-front restaurant with local entertainment were also very enjoyable. We also enjoyed entertainment in the main restaurant and by the swimming pool bar. The beach is beautiful and diving facilities are fabulous. The house reef and Lees Reef are now two of our favorite dive sites. In residence are seahorses, octopus, sea turtles, and an amazing abundance of juvenile fish. We were pleased to see the reef looking so healthy. The dive staff were exceptional at helping out - including assistance with gear to accomodate personal difficulties - and always willing and with a smile. We were serious divers before having our children, and want the best of both worlds on our vacations. We found the above water facilities to be plentiful enough to entertain our little ones without ever having to leave the resort. Besides an absolutely gorgeous pool with a kids pool section, there is a swingset/play area on the beach and miniature golf that are in fairly good shape and provided some good diversion. There are also kayaks available on the beach, and the lagoon area was perfect for giving little ones a thrilling ride while families with older kids could take advantage of organized kayak tours. There were also lots of organized activities that older kids or adults could take advantage of and we'll look forward to for future trips. Although rooms can use some updating, we found our room to be clean and comfortable. The view also couldn't be beat! Oceanfront means RIGHT on the ocean front! The sound of surf and shells and coral on the shore was spectacular. Being regular visitors to Curacao, we are thrilled to have found a new "home" at Sunset Waters |
